Stellaris Achievements Won’t Unlock: Suspects

Mods

Generally speaking, it’s possible to use mods to customize the gaming experience. That being said, if you play some games with mods, you cannot unlock their achievements and Stellaris is a prime example. Hence, regarding  Stellaris not getting achievements, you must think about Stellaris not getting achievements.

Requirement

In case you don’t know, you could only get Stellaris achievements if you play in Ironman Mode. You have played Stellaris for a long time but not in Ironman Mode? In that case, requirement is the root cause behind your achievement issue.

Console Commands

While playing, Stellaris players may open the console and run console commands to alter aspects of the game. Nonetheless, the use of console commands in Stellaris deactivates achievements.

Multiplayer Mode

Although Stellaris supports PvP, there is no way to unlock achievements in multiplayer mode. To unlock achievements, you must play Stellaris in single player mode.

Broken Achievements

All in all, it’s not uncommon for achievements of games on Steam to become buggy out of the blue. Thus, if you have a hard time getting achievements such as Store Energy, Build Robot and so on, don’t panic.

Corrupted or Missing Files

You may also experience this problem if some of your game files are corrupted or missing.

Guides To Fixing Stellaris Not Getting Achievements

Update

There was a problem with Stellaris V 1.5 where the Ironman Mode was not set. This made it practically impossible for players to get any in-game achievements since Ironman mode is required for unlocking Steam achievements in Stellaris. However, this problem has been fixed in later updates to the game so you’ll want to check and ensure you’re running an updated version of Stellaris.

Delete Mod Folder Content

  • Step 1: Select My Computer and go to your documents folder.
  • Step 2: Navigate to Paradox Interactive /Stellaris folder and open it.
  • Step 3: If you see a “mod” folder, open it and then delete any file you find in the folder.

Note: You should check your documents folder for this particular file as it could be present even if you don’t or have never used mods.

Validate Game Files

  • Step 1: Launch Steam client and log in to your account.
  • Step 2: Go to Library, navigate to Stellaris, and right-click on it.
  • Step 3: Select Properties from the menu and click Local Files.
  • Step 4: Select Verify Integrity of Game Files. Steam will scan your Stellaris game files for missing or corrupted game files and then proceed to replace them (if there are any present).

Play In Ironman Mode

Steam achievements for Stellaris will not unlock until you have Ironman mode enabled. To turn on Ironman mode, follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Log in to Steam and launch Stellaris from Library
  • Step 2: Start New Campaign
  • Step 3: Go to Settings and enable Ironman Mode

Note: It is possible that your Ironman mode may not activate when you try to turn it on. If you’re experiencing that, you will want to ensure that you are logged into your Paradox account (the one linked to your Steam account). Also, ensure you’ve enabled Steam Cloud Synchronization and check your firewall to confirm it’s not blocking the Ironman mode.

Uninstall And Reinstall

If none of the above works, don’t hesitate to uninstall and reinstall the game. Go to Library, Stellaris, wait for a moment and download the latest version of the game. That is going to fix all the bugs with the game including those that affect achievements but you would lose all your game progress. As a result, uninstallation and reinstallation should be your last resort.

Tips And Tricks

Stay Away From Mods

If you’re interested in getting achievements while playing Stellaris, you should avoid playing it with mods. Ironman Mode is designed to allow for uninterrupted gameplay and installing mods in the middle of a playthrough deactivates Steam achievements for Stellaris. Some players have said their game still works well even though they have cosmetic mods enabled. However, it is strongly recommended that you avoid playing with mods altogether to prevent breaking your game.

You should also know that playing Stellaris with the Ironman mode means there is no way to reverse your decisions since every decision is auto-saved. Therefore, be careful before making up your mind.

Concentrate On Expansion

It can be challenging to find the perfect balance between all the activities in Stellaris. However, expansion should receive special attention at all times. If you hoard energy instead of expanding your colony, your opponents would soon surpass you in terms of colonization and you’ll find yourself at a disadvantage.

Build A Strong Fleet

Have you ever heard the phrase: “action speaks louder than words”? Well, that phrase applies wholly to Stellaris. The Stellaris game world is designed to favor the “strong” so all sides are incentivized to attack and conquer new territories. The only way to deter the opponents or dissuade them from attacking you is to have the military strength to check their advances. With a strong fleet, you can focus on developing your colonies without worrying about getting attacked.

Diversify Warship Production

While it’s certainly tempting to arm ships with lasers and “big guns,” you should know that success in Stellaris requires a mix of everything. If your only approach is blunt force, you may meet opponents with the right fleet composition to counter that which leaves you vulnerable. Thus, you should experiment with different ship configurations and develop a diverse fleet. That will allow you to adapt and change war strategies in times of need.
