DAO Mods Won’t Work: Advice
You notice Dragon Age: Origins mods not working? Then you may want to uninstall mods that you have installed previously. Afterward, proceed to reinstall the mods using one of the following methods:
For DAZip Mods
- Step 1: Download the mod then extract it.
- Step 2: Go to (C:) > program files > Steam > Steamapps > Common > DA:UE > bin-Ship, locate DAupdater and launch it.
- Step 3: In DAupdater, choose Select DAzip, pick the extracted DAzip file and hit Install Selected. Allow the process to go all the way. Last but not least, launch the game then see how things turn out.
For Non-DAZip Mods
- Step 1: Download the mod then extract it.
- Step 2: Navigate to docs > Bioware > Dragon Age > packages > core > override. If you have a hard time finding the override folder, you can create a new folder and rename it “override”. In most of the cases, the game should recognize the recently created folder.
- Step 3: Place all the extracted files in the “override” folder.
Alternatively, you can use CharGenMorph Compiler to install non DAZip mods. The compiler combines all the cosmetics, bodies, and so on into a single XML file to minimize the odds of conflict. Once you have finished compiling the mods, you only need to click the button labeled “remove bad references” to prevent the game from crashing during character creation.

Remember To Save
The first and probably most helpful advice is to save your progress regularly. The difficulty level of Dragon Age: Origins varies significantly from one playthrough to the next. At any given location, there are likely to be enemies of varying strengths mingling with one another. Therefore, you should always be prepared for the unexpected.
Although the game autosaves before every boss fight or significant milestone, it is however recommended that you save your game manually every ten to fifteen minutes while playing. Nothing is more frustrating than playing for hours, only to have your party die and then have to start again from the beginning.
Be Adaptable
If you’re getting trounced, it’s best to leave the battle for a while and come back later. The game, particularly in the middle of it, operates in a non-linear manner. There is a lot to see and do which means it’s up to you to choose the sequence. Therefore, if you are experiencing trouble at place A, task B, or side quest C, you should ignore them to try again later. In the meantime, make your way to place D, converse with individual E, and start working on mission F.
Assuming that things proceed smoothly, you may receive what it takes to return to A, B, and C and complete them.
Give Side Quests A Go

Although exceptions exist, side quests tend to be short and take little work to complete. The rewards they provide make it worthwhile to go through with the challenges they may occasionally bring.
Dozens of side quests could be accepted at locations throughout the game and you should complete them all if possible.
Note: There is a place called Soldiers Peak where a man will approach you for assistance if you have the downloadable content pack. After you finish the mission, he will hand you a chest in which you can put your loot. Since there is no other kind of storage in the game like that chest, it is wise to complete that quest at the earliest opportunity. Still, depending on your skills and equipment, you should consider lowering the game’s difficulty as you must fight some strong foes.
Make Use Of The Map
If you don’t look at your map from time to time, you may get lost due to the many maze-like places featuring twists and turns. You can avoid a lot of hassles by opening your map and sticking to the paths it outlines. Also, If you look at the map, you could see places that you haven’t visited.
