Dark Souls Remastered Item Dupe: Guidelines

Released back in 2018, Dark Souls Remastered is the remastered version of the first entry in the Dark Souls series. Similar to many other remasters, Dark Souls Remastered uses the original Dark Souls game as its basis with a lot of things being carried over. Interestingly, Dark Souls Remastered not only recreates the experience of Dark Souls but also contains a number of glitches including the Item Dupe glitch. By using the Dark Souls Remastered Item Dupe glitch, players could beat some of the hardest bosses with relative ease.

An Overview Of The Glitch

Wish to take advantage of the Item Dupe glitch in a speedrun of Dark Souls Remastered but have some issues? If that is the case, you should find this article useful. Down below is everything that you must know about the Dark Souls Remastered Item Dupe glitch. (gardensdental.com.au)

Theory

Overall, while the glitch is known among the Dark Souls community as Item Dupe glitch, it won’t create copies of items. All the Item Dupe glitch could do is to replicate the effect of items by exploiting features of the game.  That being said, if players manage to master the glitch, it’s possible to increase the number of items to 999 in a blink of an eye. Needless to say, speedrunners who need to level up stats quickly tend to use the Item Dupe glitch to farm souls.

Currently, two types of Item Dupe glitch exists:

Type 1: For Items With Confirmation Box

Generally speaking, Type 1 glitch permits players to infinitely use items with the confirmation box such as Homeward Bones, Boss Souls and so on. Keep in mind that the Item Dupe glitch won’t work on Red Eye Orb as it won’t be consumed upon use.

To activate Type 1 glitch, highlight the item that you want to dupe in your hotbar in advance. Next, execute an action then queue up the use of the item as the animation is about to complete. If you open the Menu before the confirmation box emerges and use an inventory item, the confirmation box of the hotbar item should still appear. Nonetheless, if you confirm the use, the game would consume the inventory item but provide the effect of the hotbar one.

Note: If you play a female character, it’s kind of hard to make use of Type 1 glitch from time to time. To optimize the odds of success, you have two choices:

  • Equip a two-handed weapon/shield
  • Equip a weapon of one of the following categories in the right hand: Great Hammers, Greatsword, Greataxe, Halberd and Spear.

Type 2: For Items Without Confirmation Box

To put it plainly, Type 2 glitch could work on items with and without the confirmation box. Still, owing to a couple of reasons, it’s suggested that you use Type 1 glitch to dupe items that have the confirmation box.

The key difference between Type 1 and Type 2 is that the latter only replicates the effect of the last item in the stack. For example, let’s say you have a total of five firebombs in your inventory. To activate Type 2 glitch with the firebombs, you need to use/drop the first four firebombs. Afterward, use the fifth firebomb but on the very last frames of the item-use animation, queue up another to throw out extra firebombs.

Here is a list of duping windows for items that you may want to use Type 2 glitch with:

  • Souls: 1 Frame (33ms)
  • Twin Humanities:1 Frame (33ms)
  • Black Firebomb: 2 Frames (66ms)

Could I Max Out My Character Using The Item Dupe Glitch?

All in all, in Dark Souls as well as its remaster, souls play a key role in leveling up stats of the player character. Thus, if you use the Item Dupe glitch to farm souls, you would be able to max out your character assuming that you have the time. Nonetheless, it’s worth pointing out that if you exploit the glitch excessively, your experience is going to drop. Unless you plan to start a speedrun of Dark Souls Remastered, you should avoid using the Item Dupe glitch too much.

What Is The Limit Of The Item Dupe Glitch?

Despite its utility, the Item Dupe glitch is unable to dupe unique items such as Fire Keeper Souls. In addition to that, you cannot use the glitch to dupe items that don’t show a quantity.

Is There Any Risk Of Using The Item Dupe Glitch?

Speedrunners have been using the Item Dupe glitch for years. Therefore, feel free to take advantage of the glitch if you like to beat up bosses and circumvent the hassle of level grinding. (stylerecap) Still, in the case that you take part in PvP actions from time to time, play it safe and refrain from using the Item Dupe glitch. At the very least, turn off your Internet connection before activating the glitch.
