Arma 3 Unlimited Ammo

Considering the nature of Arma 3, it’s not uncommon for players who play in the sandbox to ask about Arma 3 unlimited ammo. Tired of keeping an eye on the ammo count while playing Arma 3? Then you should find this article helpful. Read to the end to learn what must be done to be able to shoot to your heart’s content.

How To Get Unlimited Ammo In Arma 3

Regarding Arma 3 unlimited ammo, all you have to do is to add addEventHandler [“Fired”,{(_this select 0) setVehicleAmmo 1}] to the init field of the unit.

*Note: if you want Arma 3 unlimited ammo given to the AI and the magazines are reloaded when empty, here is the code:

this addEventHandler [“Reloaded”,{

_unit = _this select 0 ;

_mag = _this select 4 select 0 ;

_unit addMagazine _mag ;

}] ;

Arma 3 Vehicle’s Ammo: Overview

In Arma 3, three categories of vehicle’s ammo exist: High-Explosive (HE), Armor Piercing (AP) and High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT).

High-Explosive (HE)

All in all, HE works well against troops, unarmoured/lightly-armored vehicles, civilian buildings, … However, HE cannot do much if you use it while shooting at heavily-armored vehicles.

Armor Piercing (AP)

As the name suggests, AP is designed to neutralize armors using kinetic energy (KE). If you have to fight armors, reinforced structures and so on, stick to AP. The lack of explosive filling means AP is only useful against single targets.

High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT)

HEAT is a combination of HE and AP munitions as it contains explosive charge as well as kinetic penetrator submunition. Needless to say, ERA and slat cages could be defeated by HEAT. The explosive charge would destroy them and then the kinetic submunition is going to pierce the armor underneath.

Weapon Systems Of The Vehicles In Arma 3

Cannon 20 mm

Cannon 20 mm could use High-Explosive (HE) as well as Armor Piercing (AP) shells. While shooting HE, the cannon 20 mm is able to deal 60 damage while delivering an aerodynamic friction of -0.00078 and the expected velocity is calculated at 1,030 m/s. About AP, it provides the same damage as the HE but the aerodynamic friction and expected velocity are higher by 0.00036 and 90, respectively. You can find this weapon on an AWC Nyx’s autocannon variant.

Cannon 30 mm

Cannon 30 mm is equipped with Multi-Purpose (MP) and Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds. MP rounds have a base damage of 90, an aerodynamic friction of -0.00036, a muzzle velocity of 1,070 m/s and a blast radius of 3 meters. On the other hand, the APFSDS rounds could deal 120 damage, fly at a speed of 1,430 m/s, achieve a penetration depth of 128.7 mm and possess a deflection angle of 15°. To use cannon 30 mm, you must ride the FV-720 Mora or the FV-720 Odyniec.

Cannon 40 mm

For Cannon 40 mm, General-Purpose Round (GPR) and Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) munitions are available. GPR ammo’s base damage is 70 while its aerodynamic friction is -0.0006 and the expected velocity is 960 m/s. About APFSDS rounds, the base damage is 150, the aerodynamic friction is -0.00012 and the expected velocity is 1,140 m/s. This weapon is available on the AMV-7 Marshall and the right gunner position of V-44X Blackfish’s armed variant.

Cannon 105 mm

This weapon is capable of shooting tandem High-Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose (HEAT-MP) rounds. The main warhead contains a high-explosive damage type with a base damage of 95, an aerodynamic friction of -0.000308 and an expected velocity of 900. Meanwhile, the second warhead fires kinetic damage and inflicts 450 damage at the speed of 1,000 m/s. Cannon 105 mm can only be used while being on the left gunner position of the V-44X Blackfish’s armed variant.

Cannon 120 mm

Cannon 120 mm is capable of using all hree ammo types, HE, AP and HEAT.

  • Regarding HE ammunition, the cannon 120 mm loads and fires both High-Explosive (HE) and High-Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose (HEAT-MP) rounds. HE deals 250 base damage while the High-Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose (HEAT-MP) inflicts a total of 605 damage. These two shells have the same expected speed and aerodynamic friction of 1,400 m/s and -0.000275, respectively.
  • For the AP shell type, the cannon 120 mm has the Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds capable of inflicting 500 damage at the expected velocity of 1,320 m/s along with an aerodynamic friction of -0.0000396.
  • The HEAT ammo in the cannon 120 mm includes the MARUK gun-launched ATGMs which fire guided missiles. The missiles contain two warheads, the explosive charge and the kinetic penetrator submunition. The primary HE shell’s base damage, aerodynamic friction and expected velocity are 150, +0.05 and 900, respectively. Besides, the secondary KE ammo causes 630 damage, flies at 1,000 m/s and has an aerodynamic friction stat set at -0.28.

The cannon 120 mm is available on the M2A1 Slammer, the M2A4 Slammer UP, the MBT-52 Kuma, the Rhino MGS and the Rhino MGS UP. However, only the Rhino MGS UP and the Rhino MGS have access to the HEAT missiles.

Cannon 125 mm

Like cannon 120 mm, cannon 125 mm also contains three ammunition types. The High-Explosive (HE) deal 300 damage along with a -0.000275 aerodynamic friction while traveling at 1,400 m/s. The Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds’ damage, aerodynamic friction and expected velocity are calculated at 550, -0.0000396 and 1,550, respectively. The last one, HEAT shell type, has two warheads whose total damage is 682.5, yet there is a significant difference in aerodynamic friction as the HE only has 0.000275 while the KE has 0.28.

There are three vehicles that use this type of cannon and they are the T-100 Varsuk, the T-140 Angara and the T-140K Angara.

CTWS Cannon 30 mm

The weapon could use both Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) and the Multi-Purpose (MP). The MP shell’s damage is 90, flying at an expected speed of 1,070 with a -0.00036 aerodynamic friction. Meanwhile, the APFSDS ammo deals 120 damage, travels at 1,320 m/s and has an aerodynamic friction set at -0.0001. Using the CTWS cannon 30 mm requires controlling the AFV-4 Gorgon, the BTR-K Kamysh or T-140K Angara’s commander position.
